NEW BRITAIN - Kevin Chapman’s stay in New Britain didn’t last long.

In fact, it only lasted 19 games that included six appearances after the left-hander had his contract purchased by the Detroit Tigers organization the Bees announced Sunday afternoon.

Chapman will report to Triple-A Toledo of the International League. He is the first Bees player to have his contract purchased this season.

“Kevin has been one of our most reliable relievers this year,” New Britain general manager Brad Smith said in a statement. “It’s great to see him receive this opportunity and we wish him the best of luck.”

In his six games with the Bees, Chapman did not allow a run, while striking out 11 in 6.1 innings of work.
