Staff report

For the third year in a row, players from the Connecticut Twilight League will play a preseason exhibition game against the New Britain Bees, with this year’s contest happening Sunday at 1 p.m.

The CTL will send a team composed of many of the league’s All-Stars and postseason award winners from last season, to face off with New Britain’s professional ball players led by new manager and longtime MLB player Wally Backman.

The game helps New Britain get some reps on the field prior to the start of their season during their short spring training. It also continues a tradition between the CTL and the Bees.

The game will be part of the New Britain Bees’ Fan Fest and a free opportunity to come out and see New Britain’s pros play against some top state players.

The Connecticut Twilight League is sending a strong group to try and hang with the professionals. For the game, the CTL welcomes many players in the league to experience the day, but the starters and most of the subs were selected from the players who had the best 2017 season.

The CTL will be managed by the leader of the 2017 CTL champion Chicago Sam’s Orioles, Don Fodaski.

He and new league president Scott Dickens will lead a group of players representing most of the teams in the 10-team league.

Representing the CTL Teams are:

Bristol Knights - Kyle Lentini (2017 league MVP), Marco Ross, Chris McGrath and Julio Ortiz-Rivera;

Brickhouse Indians - Brent Barth and Keith Echevarria;

Elmer’s Baseball - Ken Cook, Mike Cook, Russell LaFleur, Nick Magoulas and Dennis Accomando;

Chicago Sam’s Orioles - Dustin Mocadlo, Adam Camelleri, Nate Narducci and Liam Gallagher;
