NEW BRITAIN - Two home runs in the first inning set the tone of the game for the New Britain Bees as they beat the Lancaster Barnstormers 13-9 Thursday.

James Skelton and Craig Maddox each hit home runs in the first inning to give the Bees an early 4-0 lead.

The Barnstormers immediately answered back in the top of the second inning with two-RBI doubles and two-RBI singles to even out the scoreboard.

Lancaster was able to score another four runs in the fourth inning. The Bees offense wasn't giving up and managed to one-up the Barnstormers scoring five runs of their own.

An error by the pitcher caused Yusuke Kajimoto to advance to first base and allowed Jon Griffin to score.

Lancaster would only score once more in the sixth inning.

A pair of single-RBI’s by Maddox and Kajimoto finish the night for the Bees.

The Bees will play the Barnstormers again today at 6:35 p.m.
