SUGAR LAND, TX - The New Britain Bees hoped a change in location would yield better results - it did not.

The Bees allowed four runs in the eighth inning to squander a two-run lead and fell to the Sugar Land Skeeters 7-5 Friday night.

In his third inning of relief for Anthony Marzi, Brandon Shimo managed to retire the first two batters of the inning without much difficulty before allowing a double to Anthony Giansanti and walking Derek Miller.

He was replaced by Nate Roe, who didn’t fare much better. Sugar Land’s Travis Scott singled to centerfield to bring home a run. An error by Michael Crouse allowed a second run to score.

On the very next pitch, Roe (0-1) surrendered a two-run home run to Josh Prince to seal the game.

Marzi went five innings, giving up three runs on seven hits. But he got enough backup from his offense, especially Jake McGuiggan, to leave with a 5-3 lead.

McGuiggan finished the night 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI. The first came in the third, a solo shot. He followed it up an inning later with a two-run homer.

Jon Griffin and Conor Bierfeldt also added RBIs of their own. Both came in the fourth.
