CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. - A two-run homer by Conor Bierfeldt in the top of the sixth inning gave the New Britain Bees all the runs they would need in a 5-1 victory on the road over the Long Island Ducks on Sunday afternoon.
Michael Crouse added another two-run homer for the Bees in the following inning, part of a three-run rally that also saw Jovan Rosa score on a passed ball after doubling.
Berlin native Anthony Marzi (1-1) picked up his first win of the season, throwing five scoreless, three-hit innings, recording three strikeouts with one walk.
Crouse (2-for-4) also had a triple in the fourth inning, the first for the Bees this season.
New Britain’s Michael Baca got his first career hit, a single in the top of the fifth.
Bierfeldt now shares the league’s home run lead at four with Long Island’s Nate Freiman.
