Pagliacci’s Restaurant, at 333East Street in Plainville, will be celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.

Mike Capobianco opened Pagliacci’s on Feb. 14, 1986, on Valentine’s Day and has maintained ownership to this day. He is also the owner of Nino’s Trattoria, at 91 Scott Road in Waterbury, and San Marino Ristorante Italiano, on Thomaston Avenue in Waterbury, which just celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Pagliacci’s runs its restaurant like a family. The management team is made up of three women who have been in the restaurant industry for almost two decades, two of whom are mothers and strive to make Pagliacci’s restaurant family and child friendly.

“My son has special needs, so Pagliacci’s is truly understanding if anyone needs a quiet table, dimmed lights or music,” said Jenn Harding, the restaurant’s general manager.

What sets Pagliacci’s apart is the fact all of its pastas and sauces are homemade. Because they do this, the restaurant is able to be very accommodating when it comes to food allergies and dietary needs.

“We offer gluten-free options and are accommodating to all allergies, likes, dislikes and preferences,” she said. “We offer take-out, curbside, dine in, reservations, parties and more.”

Pagliacci’s also offers a vast catering menu for any occasion with lots of options for anyone’s taste buds. From salads to pasta to classic favorites like eggplant parmigiana or sausage and peppers, there’s something for everyone. This past holiday season, they produced well over a hundred catering orders for holiday parties and events.

In a typical year, Pagliacci’s offers private event space where families can host bereavements, baby showers, or any other type of event. But with the covid-19 restrictions placed on the state over the last year, they have seen a significant drop off from this type of business.

“It’s difficult when we are limited on how many people are allowed in the restaurant,” Harding said. “We can’t have the bereavements or baby showers like we normally do.”

Perennially, Pagliacci’s receives the honor of the Plainville Citizen’s Best Family Restaurant and Best Italian Restaurant.

Pagliacci’s Restaurant offers daily lunch and dinner specials. For more information and menu listings, visit their website, , as well as their Facebook and Instagram pages.
