PORTLAND – Private Wealth Advisor James McCabe, with Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC, is hosting a Webinar Thursday to assist people navigating the “Secure Act” and estate planning.

The webinar, which can be accessed by calling 1-833-942-2446, will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. It will be hosted by McCabe along with Joseph Peppe, regional vice president and retirement plan consultant with Ameriprise Financial. The webinar is sponsored by McCabe & Associates.

The webinar will explain several aspects of the new SECURE (Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement) Act, which was passed into law in Dec. 2019, as well as valuable information regarding estate planning.

McCabe offers “personalized, goal-based advice” to help clients feel more confident about their financial future. Clients are asked to do a “three-minute confident retirement” check to gauge their retirement readiness and see how their financial confidence compares to others.

“Let’s talk about how I can help you set and reach your financial goals for today and tomorrow,” McCabe said.

McCabe also offers a five-question quiz for clients to assess their tolerance for risk. McCabe can then help clients to discuss their portfolio, whether it meets their needs and their risk tolerance.

“When it comes to investing, risk and reward go hand in hand,” he said. “The higher the risk, the higher the potential return, but also the greater the risk of loss. Risk tolerance refers to your ability to endure market volatility. All investments come with some level of risk so it's important to be aware of how much volatility you can tolerate. How risk tolerant you are is important, because it is one of the basic factors in determining an appropriate investment strategy for you. Your risk tolerance can affect both the types of investments you own and the way you choose to diversify your portfolio.”

According to ameripriseadvisors.com, “For more than 125 years, Ameriprise has been committed to putting clients’ needs first. Our advisors are passionate about helping you live the full and rich life you’ve earned.”
