NEW BRITAIN — After 111 years of service, New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home is the only funeral home in the city that has its own on-site event center for catered receptions, following funeral services.

Jonathan Raymond, general manager/funeral director, said that the business provides unique and exclusive options that no other funeral home in the area provides.

New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home was formerly Blogoslowoski Funeral Home, and was acquired in 1986 by Service Corporation International.

Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home merged with New Britain Memorial Funeral Home, which made two funeral homes into one. This funeral home’s commitment to providing remarkable services to the New Britain and surrounding communities is evident in many ways, Raymond said.

However, one of its characteristics is its professional funeral directors who are lifelong or longtime members of the community and longtime employees, which makes the funeral home feel as if it was family operated, said Barbara (Dudzinski) Thompson, Funeral Director and Embalmer. “We are a family within a family,” Thompson said. Thompson has been an employee at the funeral home for 32 years, Ann Targonski for 45 and Donald Sagarino, former owner of Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, has served the community for over 45 years.

In addition, Sagarino said, “New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home is a proud member of the Dignity Memorial Network of Funeral Service Providers, which enables the company to provide services locally and throughout North America.”

New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home serves hundreds of families each year in the area. The funeral home offers full service funerals, burials, and cremation services. It also owns and operates its own crematory in Old Saybrook, which provides the families choosing cremation the peace of mind that their loved one never leaves the care of the associates, said Thompson.

“We tailor our services and merchandise to meet the needs and wants of the families that we are privileged to serve,” Raymond said. “We handle everything from the need prior to, during, and after the death of a loved one.

“We are a full service funeral home and handle ever detail from the beginning to the end. The funeral home has four chapels, off street parking for over 100 cars, and can accommodate any need. The funeral home is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year to handle your every need,” said Raymond.

“We offer the New Britain Event Center, adjacent to the funeral home, which accommodates 80-90 people for receptions before, during or after services,” he added.

“These are the unique things provided by the funeral home, simply for choosing the funeral home, that no other funeral home in this area provides,” Raymond said. “We help people create a tribute to a life lived that they want to remember, instead of a funeral they want to forget,” Raymond added.

The funeral home provides a customized service’s and celebrations of life unique to the individual.

“With a certified celebrant on staff, we are able to customize and personalize a unique and fitting tribute to a life lived”, Sagarino said. Additionally, there’s a new feature that will be provided at funeral services in which individuals can show pictures and captions straight from their cell phones and social media accounts to a screen displayed during the service, adding to the unique tribute.
