FARMINGTON - Edward Jones Investments’ newest office in Farmington is maintaining the business’s custom-tailored investment plans and accommodating the needs of investors, or as the company prefers, partners.
Ryan Kubasek, financial advisor for Edward Jones, explained he has been in the financial services business for about 13 years, but with the firm for roughly one year. He said the business is a national organization with independent offices run by financial advisors that are responsible for their own profitability.
As a private firm owned by the employees, Kubasek said the firm is “not beholden to any shareholder, voting or guiding our business in a direction that we, the owners of the business, are not comfortable with,” which has set the mold for the firm’s culture and allowed it “to truly put the client at the center of the decision we’re making.”
“What benefits the American investor most is a firm whose culture is about getting to know the residents in the immediate town and community that the office is located in. When you aren’t worried about a shareholder’s need for you to increase profit, no matter what’s going on in the business world, you can really, truly focus on the culture of what you are trying to put in your local communities,” he said.
This allows the firm to cater to the investment needs of individual investors and businesses, he said. For the past two decades, Kubasek said one of those communities was Bristol where “the core of our client base is.” There are also three offices in Farmington and one in Unionville, which gradually opened up as the business grew.
“As the growth of our business has continued to flourish and move in the direction we want - more clients, more assets to be cared for - we needed to improve the size and functionality of our space,” he said.
“The growth of the practice in Bristol,” Kubasek said, prompted the business to search for a new branch location in the Central Connecticut area. It found one 30 Stanford Drive, suite 200, where it moved into June of this year.
The firm custom tailors each client’s investment plan and has a hand-on, community approach to marketing, Kubasek said, which involves “meeting people, looking them in the eye, shaking their hands and getting to know them and their families, or them and their employees, and what the needs of that family or business might be.”
“The business-minded culture and decision that every single person is going to require a different plan allows us the build-out and software, to truly do what’s in that client’s best interest. It’s not about an investor we are trying to work for. It’s about getting to know that investor beyond just the dollars they are investing.
“There are so many American investors that are looking for guidance and a firm to put them at the center of every decision that’s made - truly putting that client in the center of everything. Our want to get to know investors more than what I would say is the industry average, is very important to a lot of people in this world where trust is so paramount,” Kubasek said.
