WASHINGTON-The U.S. Senate Democrats’ proposed $1 trillion infrastructure plan will create more than 15 million jobs and strengthen Buy America requirements for all infrastructure projects.

In December, Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), who is also a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, introduced the Act to increase transparency and ensure federal agencies prioritize the purchase of American-made goods.

The Senate Democrats’ have included a passage of Murphy’s bipartisan Act in their Jobs & Infrastructure proposal.

“Every taxpayer dollar we use to fix our roads and build new schools should be used to hire American workers and purchase American materials,” said Murphy.

“I’m thrilled that this new infrastructure plan includes my Act because it could actually help create new jobs in Connecticut and build up our economy. I hope my Republican colleagues join us in enacting this proposal.”

The infrastructure plan unveiled will help create jobs, overhaul Connecticut’s rail and transit network, modernize airports and waterways, rebuild crumbling schools and VA hospitals among other things.

The proposal comes after President Donald Trump released an infrastructure plan last month that relies heavily on state and local funding, and provides only $200 billion in federal investment-much of that looted from existing transportation programs that benefit the state, according to Murphy.

It will also repurpose some federal revenues spent in the tax bill that Trump and Congressional Republicans passed last year.
