NEW BRITAIN-A-1 Machining Company of New Britain is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer,” U.S. Senator Chris Murphy announced Monday.

Based in the Hardware City since 1979, A-1 manufactures turbine engine components for commercial and military aircraft, and land-based power generation.

“For nearly four decades, the A-1 team has manufactured dependable products for an impressive list of customers, including many other Connecticut-based aerospace manufactures,” Murphy said. “I know that A-1 is looking to grow their capabilities and expand their shop, and my office is here to support them along the way.”

A-1 manufactures a wide variety of products including retaining rings, fan cases, combustor domes and compressor cases. They serve a number of customers such as GE Aviation, Rolls-Royce, GKN Aerospace and Arconic.

The facility remains open 24 hours a day with the help of 61 employees.

“A-1 Machining Company follows the legacy in Connecticut of metal-working along with many other aerospace shops. The skill base for metal-working in Connecticut is an extraordinary resource, and A-1 receives work from all over the world because of the skill and long experience of its staff,” Tom Daily, president of A-1, said.
