Women in aviation to be celebrated at museum event

WINDSOR LOCKS-In honor of the start of Women’s History Month, the New England Air Museum is hosting a Women Take Flight event on Saturday, March 3.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. visitors of all ages are welcomed to celebrate women’s contributes to aerospace history with guest lectures, hands-on activities and other special events.

Those in attendance will be able to meet women pilots, engineers and industry professionals, participate in an interactive flight simulator, discover the history of women in aerospace and take part in hands-on STEM activites.

The guest lecturers include Catherine Young, business developer for general aviation airports at the Connecticut Airport Authority; Melissa Mathiasen, a test pilot for Sikorsky Aircraft; and Msgt. Dana Willette, a flight engineer with the U.S. Air Force.

Events and activities are included with general admission and are subject to change. Library passes are not valid on this event day.

Admission is $15 for adults (ages 15-64), $13 for seniors (65 and older) and $10 for youth (4-14). Children 3 and under admitted free.
