NEW BRITAIN -The Connecticut Energy Marketers Association, awarded a local business owner with their 2017 Marketer of the Year award.

Gregory Stafstrom, president of Spring Brook Ice & Fuel, was given the award last month at CEMA’s annual conference.

CEMA President Christian Herb and Chairman Craig Snyder said Stafstrom has made significant contributions to the oil industry in the state, which deserved to be recognized with the industry’s highest award.

Located in New Britain, Spring Brook Ice & Fuel has been an ice and fuel oil service company since 1918. Stafstrom took over leadership in 1996.

“This award is a testament to our amazing staff and our continued commitment to keep all of our customers comfortable,” Stafstrom said. “As we embark on our 100-year anniversary celebration in 2018, we want to continue to engage our community and create fun giveaways and activities for those who have kept us in business so long.”

He added, “2018 is a huge stepping stone for us. We are looking forward to having a full year of celebration as we kick off our second century of business.”

The company first began by harvesting ice from present day Martha Hart Pond in 1918, but currently services thousands of ice and oil customers all across Connecticut.
