Community college opens manufacturing technology center

ENFIELD - The grand opening of the new Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center at Asnuntuck Community College was held in late June.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who attended the ribbon-cutting, took to Twitter and wrote, “The new @AsnuntuckCC Manufacturing Technology Center will provide students w/ training needed to compete for 21st century manufacturing jobs.”

According to a press release the 27,000 square foot facility will include smart classrooms, along with computers, 3D printers, CNC machines and metrology laboratories.

The new building, along with the existing center, result in a total of 50,000 square feet of dedicated spaced for Advanced Manufacturing Technology department.

“There are about 4,500 manufacturing companies in CT. It’s more important than ever that we train the next generation of workers @AsnuntuckCC,” Malloy tweeted.

The project cost $10 million.
