To the Editor:
I am a proud supporter of the Mayor and City Council based on their performance.
At a recent meeting, the Mayor cited the over 40 new businesses that had opened in Bristol in the last two years, several during the pandemic. Downtown is looking better than ever, and I greatly appreciate the efforts that the elected officials went to in keeping Bristol safe during the height of the pandemic.
From the testing clinics to the vaccination clinics, the work being done on the opioid and mental health crisis, which got worse during the pandemic, the Farmers to Families food boxes and more, I saw compassion and caring.
As a Board of Education member, I am also very happy to see the collaboration and work being done on both sides – at City Hall and at the Board of Education – to have meaningful conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion.
From teacher and staff hiring initiatives to the Community Conversations in the park, there is a good vibe happening here. And most importantly, Ellen and the City Council put actions above words. Since their election they have increased the number of people of color serving on boards and commissions from 4 to over 40.
I am proud of our city under this leadership and will be voting for them again on Nov 2!
