YOUR VIEW: Bristol Dems have made city welcoming to all

To the Editor:

Recently, Republican Mayoral Candidate Jeff Caggiano posted a marketing video seeking support of Bristol residents. In this video, he says, “If you believe in traditional values…” which infers anti-LGBTQ and mimics public participation comments recently presented at the August Bristol City Council meeting.

Our current administration has done an excellent job over the past 3+ years to make Bristol a community welcoming to all. For example, we now celebrate Pride Month each year with the Pride flag raising ceremony at City Hall. Also, thanks to this administration, we now have a Diversity Council, which helps bring together and celebrate ALL citizens of Bristol.

Prior to this administration, there were only three people of color serving on City boards and commissions, now we have 35. We need to keep up that work and not regress to a society of divisiveness and hate.

That’s why I am proudly supporting Ellen Zoppo-Sassu and the entire Democratic slate of candidates on November 2nd. Will you join me in keeping Bristol the All-Heart City?
