To the Editor:
Over the last 4 months, I have had the pleasure of volunteering with #andrewforbristol’s campaign.
Not only has it been an incredibly rewarding learning experience - regarding even just a small portion of what it takes to run for public office - but I got to see for myself the 77th District’s Democratic candidate Andrew Rasmussen-Tuller as a politician, a colleague, dad, partner and a friend. He not only says he will fight for our future at the Capital as our state representative, he lives that sentiment every day in his personal, professional and political life.
The first thing is anyone who knows Andrew knows is he is incredibly dedicated to his husband, Ken. And it’s super obvious within moments of meeting them that they’re super proud of their family - specifically their three children Kaidyn, Isaiah and Bella. They started their family in 2015 with the help of the Connecticut DCF Foster Care program, and got certified to be foster parents.
Regarding their decision to foster, Andrew mentions on his website’s ‘About me’, “We went into this program with the goal of doing as much good as we could for children in need and treating them as our own as long as they were with us.”
His story of the process of adopting their three kids is a testament to the way Andrew approaches everything in life. He is incredibly perseverant, compassionate and is able to analyze and solve problems in a practical, nuanced way.
