To the Editor:

I would like to share my support for the $10 million roads improvement referendum in Southington.

This is the next step in a long-range plan to improve our 214 miles of this critical town infrastructure. We were thankful to receive overwhelming support for our two recent road referendums in 2012 and 2014, each for $11 million.

In order to ensure the roads are prioritized according to needs and to maximize funding, a pavement management study was conducted in the fall of 2019. Although we are very fortunate to have many roads that fell into the excellent category, we also have roads that are in very poor condition. This investment would assist us with promoting economic growth and ensure a better way of life for our residents.

More importantly, it also could prevent more costly repairs if roads continue to deteriorate. If approved, residents can follow all the road improvements with our four-year road plan located on

Please consider voting YES to invest further in our roads.
