To the Editor:
The voters in Bristol and Plymouth will be electing a new judge of probate to fill the vacancy which will be left by our current retiring judge, Andre Dorval.
With his calm and fair manner, Judge Dorval has touched the lives of many people with compassion and understanding. I extend deepest congratulations to him for his many years of dedicated service. Now, we must choose his successor.
It is my honor to support the Democratic candidate Attorney Dean Kilbourne for this position. I have known Dean for nearly 30 years. When I was elected Mayor in 1993, Dean was my first appointment as an Assistant Corporation Counsel. He served the City of Bristol with excellence for many years, including time as the Corporation Counsel.
Attorney Kilbourne has a strong sense of fairness and ethics. He is a skillful attorney with a longtime knowledge of the Probate Court system.
In fact, when he first began practicing in Bristol, he joined the law firm of Judge Robert Maynard, a highly respected Judge of Probate. Dean has the knowledge and temperament required of a judge of probate. He has handled probate matters for years. He is compassionate, but yet is not afraid to make a difficult decision based on the law.
I am proud to support him to be our next judge of probate. He would carry out the fine legacy of our previous judges with honor and distinction.
