To The Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who worked the Southington polls during the August 11, 2020 Federal Primary. The poll workers made the voting experience easy, safe and clean.

The addition of a Greeter, who maintained social distancing, prevented overcrowding, and checked for face masks, made voting very easy.

The hard work of the Assistant Registrars, who in addition to their normal work, sprayed the voting area to help to eliminate any health threat.

The ballot clerks that continuously cleaned the pens used in voting. This was done also to assure the cleanliness of the voting process

The Tabulator tenders, who made sure that the disposable gloves and masks were discarded properly, and that every voter had hand sanitizer to use on their way from the polling place.

The Moderators at each polling location who not only oversaw the voting operation but also the cleanliness of the facility.

The Registrars of Voters who worked hard to make your voting experience a safe and pleasant experience. We are not done yet; the Federal Election on November 3, shall be even better.

I would also like to thank the voters, for it took their help to make the voting experience great. Let us continue to work together to ensure the basic tenant of Democracy (the right to vote) continues to be a pleasant and safe experience.

Augie Palmer

Southington, Deputy Registrar of Voters
