YOUR VIEW: Change of leadership needed in Berlin

To The Editor:

Years ago, Rep. Joe Aresimowicz ran a campaign on reducing state government costs, by reviewing and eliminating duplication of services between departments, and by looking at private/public partnerships to help taxpayers save money.

I can’t think of one legislative example proposed by Speaker Aresimowicz that does that. Instead, he has helped push two of the largest tax increases on residents, approved dozens of projects under Gov. Malloy’s “First Five” program, which gives grants and loans to businesses, many of which are forgivable, at residents expense. While the two towns Joe represents, (Berlin and Southington), continue to lose education grant money at an alarming pace. In my view it’s long overdue for a change for Berlin and Southington to elect someone who has everyone’s interest at heart, and not those who support his salary. This election, please support and vote for Steve Baleshiski to represent Berlin and Southington.

Berlin Republican Town Councilor and Deputy Mayor
