To the Editor:
I have always said that local elections deal with local issues. Among the local issues are the town’s budget and property taxes. The Democrats managed to win in Bristol. The Republicans held on to New Britain and Danbury.
Virginia and New Jersey elected Democratic governors. Virginia’s newly elected Democratic governor just followed their previous Democrat governor.
New Jersey has a Republican governor but a Democratic state legislature with a veto-proof majority.
The state of Washington had a special election and elected a Democratic state senator. That kept the state of Washington completely in Democratic control.
Some people might say that Donald Trump lost those three states. The Democrats didn’t gain anything. Donald Trump lost those three states last year to Hillary Clinton.
