To the Editor:

My name is Richard Ireland Jr. and I’m running for Town Council. You may have heard of me as being the chairman of the Plainville Recycling & Solid Waste Commission.

I’m asking for your support in November.

My wife and I have lived in Plainville for over 26 years. In that time I have been involved in many civic activities such as the Old Linden Street School Committee, Plainville Schools Steering Committee and a member of the National Federation of the Blind Central Connecticut Chapter.

I currently sit on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Recyclers Coalition. I have served on quality control and stock ownership committees during my work experience.

I believe I have skills to find solutions to help keep our budget low and that make government more efficient and would also maintain a high quality of life in Plainville. I would use the resources of our boards and commissions, department officals, and town staff to accomplish these goals.

Also, I would improve communication with residents by having one-on-one communications with residents.

I look forward to serving you along with my fellow Democrats as a Town Council member.

Richard Ireland Jr.
