To the Editor:

Thank You! To all the athletes, coaches, trainers and medical staff, volunteers, parents, officials, sponsors and particularly, the supportive media led by the New Britain Herald, we extend a robust and well-deserved thank you!

The Nutmeg State Games, just concluded, would not be able to be run without the help of the aforementioned and, of course, the city and town officials from New Britain (our official host), Berlin, & Newington. We want to give a special thank you to New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart, Parks & Recreation Director Erik Barbieri, Public Works Field Services Superintendant Mike Thompson, Consolidated School District of New Britain Facilities Director Raymond Moore and Gayle West for their continued support for the Nutmeg State Games – without a citywide commitment we would not be able to bring thousands of athletes and spectators and countless others to the ‘Hardware City” – we are truly grateful!

Over the course of three weeks we offered over 320+ teams the chance to compete in over 640+ games, a record even for us! We should also mention that, in addition to team sport games, we also offered other individual sports events, e.g. wrestling (170+ athletes), track and field (600+ athletes), cycling (400+ athletes), etc., etc.

All this could not be accomplished without the help and dedication of many, many people; their dedication and professionalism was apparent and greatly appreciated.

Yours in Sport,

Patrick T. Fisher, Executive director, Connecticut Sports Management Group, Inc.
