Your View: Condemn the Charlottesville driver, not free speech

To the Editor:

I do not condemn an ideology no matter how extreme it is. I believe in free speech whether it is Black Lives Matter or a white supremacist group. The only thing of what happened in Charlottesville, Va. this past weekend to condemn is the person who used his car as a murder weapon. That driver should be prosecuted to the furthest extent of the law.

It took me awhile to figure out what happened. Major news sources seemed more intent on getting the politicians to shoot off their big yaps than in covering the story. If somebody used a gun at a rally, there would be calls for greater gun control.

Since someone can commit mass murder with a car just as easily as with a gun, we probably should have stricter car control. Anybody who buys a used or new car should have a universal background check.
