Bristol Future Champions Gymnastics return from Tennessee as national champions

Eleven gymnasts from Bristol Future Champions Gymnastics, a division of the Boys and Girls Club of Bristol, recently attended the 2022 AAU National Gymnastics Championship in Springfield, Tenn. The team returned with five first place winners in individual events as well as the All-Around National Champions. 

Alongside their coaches, Jessica Morelli and Dejah Holley, the experienced team represented the AAU District of Connecticut along with other teams from around the state. 

“Saying we are proud is an understatement. Our gym hasn’t attended Nationals since 2019 due to the covid-19 pandemic,” Morelli said. “It was most definitely a light at the end of the tunnel feeling. Our gymnasts brought their confidence and determination to Tennessee and it showed.”

This year, the AAU Age Group National Championships had over 1,600 athletes attend from across the nation. This was also the sixth time FCG attended the AAU National Meet.

FCG representatives said the coaching staff and families are “tremendously” proud of the achievements of the team.

Xcel Silver Division:

Emily Adamo: Vault second, Uneven Bars fourth, Beam fifth, Floor sixth and All Around fourth.

Madalyn Howland: Vault fifth, Uneven Bars third, Floor second and All Around fifth.

Margaret Bonhomme: Uneven Bars third, Beam fifth, Floor sixth and All Around sixth.

Xcel Gold Division:

Delaney Downes: Uneven Bars second, Beam fourth, Floor fifth and All Around fifth.

Mia Nadeau: Uneven Bars fourth, Floor and Beam National Champion and All Around second.

Selena Espinoza: Vault sixth, Bars second, Beam sixth, Floor fifth and All Around second.

Allysen McKenna: Vault third, Uneven Bars fourth, Beam National Champion, Floor fifth and All Around National Champion.

XCEL Platinum Division:

Renee Williams: Vault National Champion, Uneven Bars fourth, Beam seventh, Floor eight and All Around fourth.

Nala Jones: Vault fourth, Beam fifth, Floor fifth and All Around sixth.

Kayla Beaulieu: Vault second, Uneven Bars second, Beam sixth, Floor seventh and All Around third. 

XCEL Diamond Division:

Hannah Guenther: Vault sixth, Uneven Bars National Champion, Beam seventh and All Around fourth.
