One of the highest ranked golfers in the world is headed to Connecticut in June.
Scottie Scheffler, the sixth-ranked professional in the world, committed to playing in the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell from June 23-26. Scheffler joins Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas, who are all on the roster for the annual tournament.
“This commitment from Scottie is great news for the tournament because it gives us another top-10 player who enjoys playing at TPC River Highlands,” said Nathan Grube, Travelers Championship Tournament Director. “We want to provide our fans in attendance and those watching from home the best experience, with the opportunity to watch golf’s biggest and brightest stars.”
Scheffler took first place in the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February for the first PGA Tour win of his career, beating Patrick Cantlay in a playoff. He also has a second-place finish this season at the Houston Open and a fourth-place finish at the World Wide Technology Championship.
Now in his third full season on tour, the 2019-20 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year already has 19 top-10 finishes to his name. He is yet to miss a Travelers Championship since joining the tour, but is yet to find his swing at TPC River Highlands.
Scheffler already has a Ryder Cup performance under his belt, going 2-0-1 in three matches to contribute to victory for the United States. He also has sub-60 score in his career, shooting a 59 at the Northern Trust in 2020.
