The Bristol Legion baseball team’s seven-game winning streak came to an end Monday as it was shutout in a 4-0 loss to Avon.

Bristol posted six hits in the contest, but failed to bring any runners home against six and a third scoreless innings from Avon started Daniel Bae. Avon also failed to score in the first four innings, but put one on the board in the fifth inning to take its only lead.

Avon added three additional runs in the sixth to secure the victory and Avon pitcher Luke Coppen entered the game to make the final outs of the game.

Matt Beaucar picked up the loss for Bristol, going all six innings and giving up eight hits, but just one walk. Tyler Martin was the lone Bristol player to finish with more than one hit while Andrew Lozier notched the team’s only extra-base hit with a double.

Bristol has two regular season games left this season and will take the field next against West Hartford at Muzzy Field on Wednesday at 7 p.m. These teams split their first two meetings this season with Bristol winning the more recent one 4-3. A win would help Bristol secure first place in Zone 1 ahead of the postseason.
