NCAA lacrosse finals, regional baseball and youth tournament to take place over weekend

Three sporting events are taking place in Connecticut over the weekend, all of which generating excitement for fans and businesses for the Memorial Day weekend.

Notably, starting Saturday and running through Monday, the NCAA Div. I, Div. II and Div. III men’s lacrosse national championships will be played in East Hartford at the Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.

Parking for the event will be $20 (cash required). Session one ticket prices range from $70-25, and will feature the Div. I semi-finals.

A session two ticket will be $20 and will be the Div. II and Div. III finals.

Session three is the Div. I finals and has a range of $50-20. A payment for all sessions is $140.

The schedule, rain or shine, will be University of North Carolina versus University of Virginia at noon on Saturday. Following the contest is Maryland versus Duke, which will be at 2:30 p.m.

Both games are Div. I semifinals, with the winners of each game facing off Monday at 1 p.m.

Sunday will see Le Moyne and Lenoir-Rhyne face off at 1 p.m. in the Div. II finals.

The Div. III finals will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, and will feature Rochester Institute of Technology versus Salisbury (MD).

With rain in the forecast for the weekend, umbrellas are not permitted in the stadium.

The NCAA Div. III men’s baseball regionals are also running through Connecticut, and will be played in Hartford through the weekend.

Teams currently playing in the regional are all local. Southern Maine, Oswego State, Wheaton (Mass.), Salve Regina, Husson and Johnson & Wales (Providence) are vying for a regional title.

All regionals will use a double-elimination format. Forty two conference champions qualified automatically.

Winners of the eight regional tournaments will qualify for the pool play double-elimination championship at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Friday-Tuesday/Wednesday, June 4-8/9, 2021.

In Newington, the Boys Future Champions Lacrosse Tournament kicks off Sunday at Newington High School.

The college graduation years of 2025-2030 will be participating. Those wishing to register can register at

Teams will be broken into pools and play teams within their pools, eventually working through a playoff to the championship. Teams will play three games on regulation fields, weather permitting.

All games will follow standard NFHS and US Lacrosse rules.
