ROUNDUP: St. Paul girls soccer has costly defensive error in loss to Holy Cross

BRISTOL - St. Paul girls soccer had one mistake that cost them the game against a strong Holy Cross team.

The defensive lapse led to Adelisse Padilla scoring the only goal of the game for either side at 26:32 as the Falcons fell 1-0 to the Crusaders Thursday afternoon.

For the Falcons, freshman keeper Nina Zwolinski continued her strong start at St. Paul and made 13 saves in the game.

As a team, the Falcons had 21 shots in the game but couldn’t capitalize on any of them.

St. Paul travels to Ansonia on Tuesday afternoon before returning home Friday to host Naugatuck under the lights at 6 p.m.


St. Paul 3, Wilby 0: Alexis Carabetta continued playing a crucial role for the success of St. Paul. Her eight aces and 10 assists were key for the Falcons in the sweep over Wilby with scores of 25-10, 25-12 and 25-17.

Taylor Conner also had a big match for St. Paul with one ace, one kill and one solo block.

With the win against Wilby, the Falcons advance to an even 6-6 on the season.

The Falcons will take on Wolcott and Holy Cross next week.
