Staff report

New Britain’s Jon Griffin collected two RBI, but the Bees lost Friday night’s game at Southern Maryland 3-2 in a game shortened to six innings by rain.

The score was tied at 2 when Brian Bistagne came to bat for Southern Maryland in the bottom of the sixth inning with runners on the corners. With the rain lurking on the horizon, he broke the stalemate with a single to right field, bringing home a run and giving the Blue Crabs the 3-2 lead.

Kyle Simon (3-4) took the loss for New Britain.

It was the first game for the Bees to have a rain delay this season, and the first game to be called due to rain on the road since June of last season in Somerset.
