SOUTHINGTON - The Southington boys baseball team received a tremendous performance from starting pitcher Bailey Robarge on Saturday afternoon in its home game against Norwich Free Academy and used it to pick up win No. 10 2-1.

Robarge went all seven innings and allowed just one unearned run on two hits and one walk while striking out eight Wildcats. The unearned run scored in the top of the second inning but the Blue Knights quickly answered in the bottom of the frame.

Ryan McIntyre drove in first baseman Jeremy Mercier with a sac fly to get Southington on the board in the second. The Blue Knights scored the game’s final run in the bottom of the fifth when Bradyen Cooney laced a two-out double and came around to score on a Matt Sciota RBI single.

Southington only collected six hits in the game and didn’t have a single player with multiple hits, but with the performance from Robarge it was enough offense to enter double digits in wins a little bit more than halfway through the season.

The Blue Knights will next be in action on Monday when they travel to Colts Park to take on Bulkeley/Weaver (3-11) at 3:45.
