SUGAR LAND, Texas - The New Britain Bees will be very happy to get out of Texas.

With Wednesday night’s 5-1 loss to the Sugar Land Skeeters the Bees dropped five games in the elongated six-game series to drop 10 games below .500.

Berlin native Anthony Marzi took the loss for New Britain as he allowed five runs on six hits and four walks while striking out just one in four and two-thirds innings. Newington native Mike Hepple and Chris Hayes combined to throw three and one-third scoreless innings in relief but it wasn’t enough.

On offense the Bees drew six walks but only were able to rack up four hits. New Britain actually struck first with a run in the first inning on a Craig Maddox RBI single, which brought in Michael Crouse, but from there the team was silent with the bats.

The Bees will now return home for a series against the Long Island Ducks. New Britain took two out of three from the Ducks at the end of April in Long Island. The series opens up with a 6:35 game on Thursday night.
