NEW BRITAIN – Hartford HealthCare will be offering free blood pressure screenings this Friday at The Hospital of Central Connecticut.
Members of the community are welcomed from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. to get checked in HOCC’s Medical Trailer located at 61 Hart Street.
According to HOCC, often referred to as the “silent killer” because most people don’t display symptoms, high blood pressure can lead to serious health issues, such as a heart attack or stroke if left untreated.
Hartford HealthCare designed this outreach initiative to help identify members of the community who may have high blood pressure and can identify this issue and seek treatment. The healthcare system also wants to help ensure that everyone has access to life-saving information about their health.
In addition to the blood pressure screenings, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut and their partners will also be available to provide information about, and offer assistance in enrolling in Covered Connecticut. Covered Connecticut is an insurance program created by the state that provides no-cost healthcare coverage to eligible residents.
Those interested can make an appointment through MyChartPLUS, but walk-ins are welcome.
