NEW BRITAIN - All eyes and ears were on Bill Tomasso of The Tomasso Group, as he introduced Chris Link, president of New Britain-based Link Mechanical, during a recent visit to Opportunities Industrialization Center earlier this month as he addressed members of the Men of Many Colors group.

Link was invited by long-time OIC board member Tomasso to speak with the students in the program about the benefits of working in the trades.

“Who better to speak to these young men than Chris Link, who exemplifies a true New Britain company’s success story at a time when these young men are learning about job training and career development services,” said Tomasso.

A 1984 graduate of Goodwin Technical High School and born and raised in New Britain, Link spoke of how he started his business in his parents’ garage.

Today, he has nearly 50 employees working at his business, at 34 Walnut St.

He explained how an education in the trades is a career for life.

“Licensed technicians today at Link Mechanical can make around $45 an hour, plus benefits, a company vehicle and a tool allowance,” said Link.
