Miss Polonia Connecticut 2020 is crowned

NEW BRITAIN - Magdalena Dutkowska of Bridgeport is the new Miss Polonia Connecticut.

The 19-year-old Fairfield University student was selected by a seven-judge panel on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Greek Hall in New Britain. First runner-up was Angelika Boguska, 26, of Stamford, second runner-up was Olivia Dybinski, 18, of Berlin, and third runner-up was Beata Palosz, 24, of Coventry.

Dutkowska’s 6-year-old sister, Aleksandra, was awarded the honorary title of Miss Little Polonia Connecticut.

The new Miss Polonia Connecticut Teen is Zofia Sadlowski, 15, of Berlin, with Reagan Davis, 15, of Bristol being the first runner-up. The Mister Polonia Connecticut title went to Cody Kirschbaum, 22, of Coventry. An honorary Mrs. Polonia Connecticut title was presented to Zofia Wieciorkowski of Stratford, a gold medal-winning athlete and runner. The over-65 crown went to Elzbieta Kaziul of New Britain.

Also during the ceremony, a young woman from Burlington, Alexa Majka, 18, was crowned Miss Little Poland Queen and Little Poland Contingent Marshal Adrian Cieplinski of New Britain was sashed by the Pulaski Day Parade Grand Marshal, Darek Barcikowski.

This was one of the best organized pageants, said organizer Bogusia Gladysz. Announcements were made in Polish by Asha Lassen and in English by Eddie Zavaski Jr.

Greek Hall was decorated by Marzi Florist of New Britain and guests were treated by performances by the children of the Polish Language School of New Britain and the Volta dance group.

A band played at the party and dance after the pageant, with dinner prepared and served by Teresa Catering of New Britain.

The event was attended by almost 200 guests. Serving as judges were Acacia Courtney, Miss Connecticut USA 2018; Miss Polonia World Jessica Rafalowski Viggiano; Mrs. Polonia World Anna Kobylarz; Dr Zijad Sabovic and Lucian Pawlak, a former mayor of New Britain.
