Miss Polonia Connecticut to be crowned Saturday night

NEW BRITAIN -- The 17th annual Miss Polonia Connecticut pageant and Red Carpet Gala will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, starting at 6 p.m. at the Hellenic Cultural Center (Greek Hall) at 301 W. Main St.

Also being held Saturday night will be a fundraising dinner for Connecticut’s representation in the Pulaski Day Parade in New York City, which is scheduled for Oct. 6, and the coronation of the Little Poland Contingent Marshal of the parade.

The winner of the Miss Polonia Connecticut crown will have the honor of representing Connecticut in national finals in New York and will be appearing in the parade as well. Connecticut will be leading the parade for the first time in its 82-year history.

Four young women have been entered for the Miss Polonia Connecticut title. They are Olivia Dybinska, 18, of Berlin; Magdalena Dutkowski, 18, of Bridgeport; Beata Palosz, 24, of Coventry; and Angelika Boguska, 26, of Stamford.

Several other crowns will be presented, in the Junior Miss Polonia, Teen Miss Polonia, Mrs. Polonia and Mister Polonia categories.

Junior and Teen contestants will be Alexandra Dutkowski, 6, of Bridgeport; Reagan Davis, 15, of Bristol; Zopfia Sadlowski, 15, of Berlin; Julia Wysocka, 12, of Unionville; Kayleigh Phillips, 8, of Farmington; and Emiliia Rzadkiewicz, 10, of Southington; David Zdunczyk of Bristol and Plymouth and Cody Kirschbaum of Coventry will vie for Mister Polonia. The only contestant for the Mrs. Polonia crown will be Zofia Wiecziorkowska of Stratford.

According to pageant organizers, the evening’s program will include entertainment by students from the Polish Language School of New Britain, appearances by celebrity guests and judges Miss Polonia World Jessica Rafalowski Viggiano, Miss Connecticut USA Acacia Courtney and Wojciech Wojcik, a Polish soccer player with Hartford Athletic FC.

In addition to the competition, guests will enjoy a cocktail reception, dinner served by Teresa Szafranski Catering, a grand ball, a cash bar, and a party after the coronation with music by the Vademecum Band.
