Downtown New Britain show to feature cars old and new on Sept. 21

NEW BRITAIN - Car enthusiasts can look forward to the New Britain Downtown District’s annual car show planned for next month.

The organization will be hosting its 13th annual New Britain/TD Bank Downtown Car Show Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to support the city’s Police Explorers youth group. The display cars from the 1920s through the present, domestic and imported, will be in Central Park in front of City Hall, from Chestnut Street to Columbus Boulevard. and on West Main Street from High to Bank streets.

Public admission is free for all. Car exhibitors are asked to make a $10 donation to the Police Explorers.

There will be plenty of free parking in the local garages and out-of-towners can take CTfastrak buses.

There will be food and drink from local eateries available all day, a DJ, a door prize raffle every hour and a 50/50 raffle. Guests will also be able to stop at exhibits and vendors.

Twenty-one awards will be given out. All proceeds collected will benefit the New Britain Police Explorers youth group.

NBDD will also be partnering with Gallery 66 for a photography contest. Photographers living in New Britain or surrounding towns must submit five photos online to Adrian8669@gmail.com by Sept. 11. Photos must contain the photographer in the picture with a classic car that coincides with this year’s car show theme. Photos may be abstract, but must be appropriate for all viewers. There will be cash prizes, an exhibit of the work in Gallery 66 and a reception dinner. The winner will be notified by Sept. 13.
