PLAINVILLE - A local man accused of assaulting a woman in a Plainville motel has been offered a plea bargain.

Ricky Freeman, 56, of 213 West Main St., has been given a continuance to Dec. 11 to think about the deal - the terms of which have not been publicly disclosed. The victim in the case will be notified of the plea bargain and asked for input.

Police allege Freeman on Oct. 3 picked a woman up and slammed her down to the ground numerous times and punched her in the face several times, according to the police report.

Police said they were contacted the day after incident, which occurred at the Advance Motel, 124 New Britain Ave. There, Freeman was with a female friend when he allegedly asked the woman for money. After telling him no, the woman told police, Freeman then allegedly picked her up from behind and slammed her to the ground, the report said. Police said he did this several more times.

Then, according to the report, Freeman allegedly sat the woman down and punched her in the face multiple times, so much so that her nose one of her ears started to bleed, the report said. He then grabbed the woman by the neck, picked her up and slammed her on the ground once again, according to police. Police also allege he threatened to kill the woman.

Initially, the woman did not call police. She told officers she was afraid of what Freeman would do once he found out she reported him. Police said she had bruising on her face, neck and arms and scrapes on her forearms and elbows.

The woman was taken to Bristol Hospital for treatment.

When police spoke to Freeman, he denied any violence and alleged that the woman was so intoxicated that she needed to be removed from the motel room.
