BRISTOL – Neighbors Convenience & Food Mart offers Bristol a small market that’s more equipped than the average convenience store but smaller than the larger supermarket chains.
“It’s better than a convenience store,” said Arslan Khan, co-owner. “It’s like a small supermarket. It’s a neighborhood store.”
Khan and his business partner opened Neighbors Convenience, located at 74 Farmington Ave., in March of 2020. It was just before the pandemic took a major toll on businesses, which made it very difficult for a brand new store to survive.
“Covid hit us pretty badly,” Khan said. “Everyone was scared to come out. It was tough. We just survived somehow. It’s picking up. People have been coming out more in the last several weeks.”
Neighbors Convenience & Food Mart offers food and fresh coffee, fountain soda, energy drinks, milk, sandwiches, pizza, soda, soup, hot dogs and candy. The candy, Khan said, is sold by the pound, which is a big draw for many.
“We have a lot of candy,” Khan said.
Neighbors also offers a wide selection to include SToK cold brew coffee.
“It’s better than going to a big supermarket,” Khan said. “It’s not a hassle.”
The need that Neighbors Convenience tries to meet is for the average person on their way to work. Someone stopping in before a workday can get their coffee, cigarettes, newspaper, lotto ticket, a couple food items or anything else needed.
“Everything someone might need for work,” Khan said.
Neighbors Convenience & Food Mart is located on Route 6, in the same plaza as Harvest Bakery. It’s in the space that was formerly Shannon’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry.
