The Meriden chocolate manufacturer was announced around the holidays when local families tend to purchase sweet treats. Traditional themed chocolates are part of the specialization at Thompson Chocolate. The company makes gold coins, dreidels, Easter bunnies, eggs and large Santa Claus shaped chocolates among other seasonal chocolates.
Thompson Chocolate was founded by William H. Thompson in 1879 to help fulfill his desire for learning about the confection trade. The company operates in a 120,000 square-foot facility, where its operations have been running since 1973. Thompson Chocolate‚Äôs 100 employees to help in the production of more than two million pounds of chocolate every year. The company also uses automated molding machines, which were first introduced to the business in the 1960s, to assist with the production of chocolate eggs and balls.

Located at 80 South Vine St., Thompson Chocolate has a manufacturing facility and a store offering milk, dark and filled chocolates. Gift boxes are also available and purchases can be made in person or online. Stores like Whole Foods and Vitamin Shoppe also sell Thompson Chocolate‚Äôs products.
