BRISTOL - Power Fuels, the propane division of Tuxis Ohr’s Fuel, offers experienced services for customers’ every propane-related need.

Power Fuels, located at 594 Farmington Ave., is managed by Branch Manager Steven Fitzgerald, who has more than 25 years of experience in the industry. The company installs propane tanks for commercial and residential buildings and during the summer months installs air conditioning. They also service and troubleshoot everything they install.

“If you smell anything unusual form your unit it’s a good time to call us,” said Fitzgerald. “Fortunately, propane is a very clean energy and doesn’t need as much preventative maintenance as oil units. It’s super efficient.”

Right now, Fitzgerald said it “’tis the season” for propane fireplace log sets and space heaters. Additionally, during every storm season, a lot of Power Fuels’ business comes from generator hookups.

“We get a lot of calls and people are pretty happy with our propane prices; they’re extremely competitive,” said Fitzgerald. “When we go out to perform service or maintenance, people have been pretty receptive to what we do. Our guys are very experienced and sometimes notice things that other companies haven’t.”

One such testimonial, which was an editorial sent to The Bristol Press a by Carol J. Hansen, reads as follows:

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Power Fuels Propane Heating & Cooling Company of Bristol for the exceptional manner in which they responded to the water damage to my furnace caused by a hurricane and a heavy rainstorm. Power Fuels Propane displayed outstanding customer service. On both occasions, they responded swiftly, going so far as to set up a commercial pump to avoid more extensive damage, checking on the situation throughout the day and making the necessary repairs in a timely manner. Due to their rapid response, the damage to the furnace was limited. Thank you Power Fuels Propane for going the extra mile for your customers!”

Fitzgerald said that, going forward, he would like to see the company grow so it can provide more service to the community.

“There is always a need for more experienced techs and drivers,” he said.

Power Fuels is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and is available on weekends by appointment.

Power Fuels’ website is currently undergoing reconstruction. For more information, call Power Fuels at 860-589-4328.
