BRISTOL - Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski provides a flexible work environment for direct sales representatives to sell unique, affordable crystal products that can’t be found anywhere else.
Mary ODonnell is a group leader for Touchstone Crystal, which is owned by Swarovski. She has a small team of about 12 girls who she hired and trained.
Swarovski has been around for 123 years, explained ODonnell, and Touchstone is the only direct-sales division of that company. Touchstone has been around since 2007 and has its own unique line of products that are only sold under the Touchstone name, she added.
“I’ve been in direct sales for 46 years,” ODonnell said, and explained that she has been with Touchstone Crystal for almost three years. She noted that the unique products only available through Touchstone attracted her to the company.
“Our company is the only one that does parties and sells through that outlet. The jewelry we sell under the Touchstone name is only made for Touchstone, and it's priced for average everyday women,” ODonnell said, adding that “the best part is every time I go to work I’m at a party.”
“The majority of our business is done through home parties, although we can sell one-on-one to anyone. We also do vendor events and fundraisers,” ODonnell said, adding that fundraisers are not organized by the company, but by the employees themselves.
“The reason that I do this is because of the flexibility that it allows me. I can work my own hours and I am self employed, so I am my own boss,” she added.
As a direct sales representative, it’s easy to work from home, explained ODonnell, which attracts many people to the business. She said, “Even though we work for Touchstone Crystal, we are self employed, we are independent contractors. I don’t have to ask for time off and can work my own hours.”
“A lot of people come into the business for a part-time position to make a little extra money to help with the income, but others come because they love the jewelry,” ODonnell said. “You can be your own boss; you don't have to miss things with your children.”
Though, the job is more than just selling jewelry, explained ODonnell. “One of the things that we do as leaders, is offer this amazing opportunity to others on a daily basis,” she said.
“We have the chance to change lives with the income they can make with Touchstone,” she continued. “We empower women to be more than they think they can be by joining our fabulous company. I have made lifelong friends with people all over the country through the contacts I have made with this business.”
