BERLIN - A Swedish-based manufacturing company, Steelwrist, will open its U.S. headquarters next month in Berlin.

The Hartford Business Journal reports that CEO Stefan Stockhaus chose Berlin because of its central location and the convenience of shipping its products to and from Sweden.

Steelwrist was established in 2005. The company develops, manufactures and sells tiltrotators, quick couplers, accessories and attachments for excavators worldwide. It also offers spare parts, field service and service agreements.

The headquarters will be on 576 Christian Lane in a 6,500-square-foot rental space. Steelwrist invested $500,000 in the Berlin location and did not receive assistance from the state’s Department of Economic and Community Development office or tax incentives from the town of Berlin.

Steelwrist employs 75 workers and has annual sales of $40 million.
