NEW BRITAIN – Members of Connecticut’s Polish community can get together and beat the heat next month during the 18th annual Polish Days at Lake Compounce Theme Park.
The Polish American Congress is hosting this year’s event Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11 at the Bristol park. The two days will feature Polish food, live Polish music and more.
John Kocur, president of the Connecticut Division of the Polish American Congress, said many groups will perform music at the annual weekend event, including New Britain’s own Polonia Paderewski Choir. This group has been bringing authentic Polish music to central Connecticut since 1952.
The Vademecum Band, also from New Britain, will perform at the theme park on Sunday, June 11
Kocur said raffles will be held on both days, and local businesses will host gift tables featuring souvenirs of the special event.
“We want Polish families to have a nice time,” Kocur said. “There is something for everyone.”
Kocur said that profits will go toward providing scholarships to Polish-American students.
Discounted $25 tickets can be purchased from Polish American Congress by calling 860-416-6065 or at businesses on Broad Street.
Lake Compounce is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on both days of the event.
“Local Polish businesses on Broad Street are helping us out by selling tickets,” Kocur said.
