SOUTHINGTON - Lotus Moon Studios, a new “positive living center”, has opened at 132 Main St., offering holistic therapies, workshops and private sessions with 13 expert practitioners.

The business, owned by Lisa Crofton, opened April 1 and aims to provide the community with “a unique environment for personal growth, spirit-mind-body balance and holistic therapies.”

The studio has relaxing music and lighting and is decorated with natural wood and sculptures in the shapes of trees and animals, which Crofton said is intended to remind guests that “we are connected to everything on the Earth.” It also features paintings and inspirational messages written by Crofton and two bookshelves filled with “mindfulness” books. Crofton said that she intends to host mindfulness book clubs in the near future.

“This is a center that helps people to shed the anxiety and worries and struggles that make it impossible to live joyous, harmonious lives,” said Crofton. “We have a variety of life coaches and certified holistic therapists who offer treatments such as acupuncture, Reiki and reflexology. All are independent contractors and experts in their field. Everyone offers something unique. Each room is decorated to have a comfortable, home-like feeling where people will be able to relax and grow.”

Private sessions are available by appointment and the center also offers monthly calendar events and programs.

Crofton said that she has seen an increased demand for holistic treatments in recent years.

“People are searching for organic, chemical and pharmaceutical free methods,” she said. “We believe that we all hold the inherent ability to heal ourselves. Our clients will learn that they are all capable of healing emotional, physical and spiritual pains without artificial means. They will find new perspectives in life. I would encourage people to start by coming to any of our group programs where they will be able to meet other like-minded people.”

Crofton said that the town and chamber have been “very supportive.” The Chamber held a grand opening for the center last Wednesday with local business owners.

“They welcomed us with open arms and said that they would be proud to support us in our endeavors,” said Crofton. “We are looking forward to serving the community.”
