BRISTOL - Former Mayor Bill Stortz has been named the parade marshal for the Forestville Memorial Day Parade.

Stortz, a Navy veteran, said he is “honored” to be selected as marshal by Forestville American Legion Post 209, who are organizing the parade.

“I’m looking forward to parade day and I appreciate being considered,” he said.

Chuck Woodin, who founded Forestville American Legion Post 209 in 2014, said choosing Stortz was a “no-brainer.”

“Bill served for many terms as mayor and he was a Navy veteran who served right at the end of the Korean War,” said Woodin. “He is also a member of Post 209 and he has done a lot for the community. He is a perfect match.”

The Forestville Memorial Day Parade will be held Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. with a rain date set for Monday at the same time. The parade will start in the Forestville Center, proceed up Church Avenue to Washington Street and then down Central Street.
