To The Editor:

Books and children, what a great combination! This year some of the proceeds from the 5K race for Lucy Robbins Welles Library will be used to refurbish the children’s department. You have several options to show your support on Sunday, May 19, 2019.

Make the morning a family affair. Come to the race and you can walk or run the course. Then cool down, enjoy some food and wait to hear your ticket drawn for one of many prizes. Register ahead of time (saving $5) at the library (download the registration form from the library’s website www.newingtonct.gov/library ) or online via raceentry.com. You are also able to register the day of the race. Either way, collect your event t-shirt celebrating the Library’s 80th anniversary!

You may live out of town or you may be busy on race day. You can still participate virtually! Just go to raceentry.com and register as a Virtual Runner/Walker by selecting Virtual Participant during the registration process. We will have an event t-shirt available for you to pick up at the Library for two weeks after the race.

Recruit some adult friends and run the race for free with a few extra clicks of the mouse. If one of your recruits registers using your unique link, you will save $5 (maximum of $25). After you register, you will receive your unique link in your email confirmation. The online registration system will keep track of your credits and issue the refund automatically.

Please show your support and celebrate our children. Turn them into library lovers and lifetime readers!
