BRISTOL - Going strong since 1900, Garrett Printing & Graphics, Inc. is dedicated to the community, and providing a one-stop-shop for all printing and promotional needs.

The Garrett Printery was founded in 1900 by Herbert E. Garrett. It was then moved to its present location, at 331 Riverside Ave., by John A. Kowalczyk, whose grandfather purchased the business in 1944. The company is now owned by Greg Kowalczyk, grandson of John Kowalczyk, and his wife, Holly.

Having taken over from his father, who in turn took over from his father, the Kowalczyks still display the original Garrett Printery sign inside their business.

“It is wonderful to be carrying this business into its third generation,” said Greg Kowalczyk. “I used to do all of the camera work of stripping plates and negatives. That’s all gone away now and although technology is changing so much faster now than it did when my grandfather owned the business. It is recommended to upgrade technology every three to five years now and we always try to be on the cutting edge.”

Holly Kowalczyk stated that Greg’s dad worked for his grandfather and that Greg has been at the business since he was a child.

“Everybody struggled during the recession a little but Garrett hung in there and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.”

Greg Kowalczyk said that Garrett Printing & Graphics is a one-stop-shop for every type of promotional or branding work. They do stationary, banners, pens, magnets, T-shirts, hats and much more.

“We have an in-house design department to meet customers’ every design need, whether it is branding, rebranding, making changes to an existing design or creating a new one,” said Greg Kowalczyk.

They pride themselves on high-quality, low prices and a quick turnaround. Everything is done at the Riverside Avenue location so they can get it done a lot quicker.

“We have a nice relationship with our customers,” said Holly Kowalczyk. “We always meet people’s deadlines. If we can do it, we will make it happen for you.”

Greg and Holly Kowalczyk said that they are grateful to the Bristol community for their longtime support of the family business. Garrett Printing & Graphics makes charitable donations to the Bristol Police Department, St. Paul Catholic High School, Bristol Hospital, United Way and The Main Street Community Foundation.

Garrett Printing & Graphics, Inc. is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
