BRISTOL - With more than 60 years of experience in the community, Wojtusik Nursery Garden Center & Christmas Shop offers a one stop shop for everything people need to make their homes merry this holiday season.
Wojtusik Nursery Garden Center & Christmas Shop got its start on Pine St. in 1956 under the father of the current owner Pete Wojtusik. The family business eventually relocated and expanded to its current location at 750 Terryville Ave., which added a highly successful Christmas Shop upstairs 33 years ago.
“This is a big time of year for the nursery,” said Wojtusik. “We sell Christmas trees, including live trees after Thanksgiving, custom made and decorated wreaths and memorial baskets. At our Christmas Shop, we have stockings, wicker reindeer, lighted indoor and outdoor displays and collectibles such as the Byers’ Choice Carolers and Fontanini nativity pieces. We also have a train set that was built by the family and features many older collectibles that are no longer sold. Many people come up there year after year just to see the train.”
On Nov. 26, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be stopping by the Christmas Shop for Wojtusik’s Christmas Open House.
“Everybody who comes in can get free popcorn, cookies, cider and giveaways,” Wojtusik added. “We have also been working with Toys for Tots to collect donations for the past seven years. Kids will also be able to write letters to Santa if they can’t make it that day. We tell them that we’re connected by Post to the North Pole.”
Wojtusik said that he is “so appreciative” for the support of the Bristol community over the years.
“I have seen so many generations coming in and lately I’ve seen longtime customers bringing in their little babies,” he said. “We are also getting brand new customers all the time - young couples who had no idea that we were here and then were just amazed when they came in and saw what we had to offer.”
Wojtusik attributes Wojtusik’s staff to hard-working and experienced staff that provide a personal touch to customer service. The store is always rotating its offerings in according to the season.
“We start planting in the spring so that by mother’s day we have overflowing gift baskets,” said Wojtusik. “In the summer we have lots of perennials and everything you need for yard and home décor.”
Wojtusik Nursery is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
